Hello 🫶🏼 As a little introduction my name is Holly and I have twin girls, Isabelle and Mabel who turn 2 next month.
We found out we were expecting twins at 7 weeks at an early pregnancy scan at the Scan Sanctuary with the amazing Jen! Our first reactions were complete shock coupled with amazement that we had been so lucky to conceive twins. I always feel like some people don’t believe us when we say this, but we never felt scared or daunted by the prospect of having two babies, we had no experience with what it was like to have one, so it made no difference to us!
My pregnancy was smooth sailing, I feel I was definitely more anxious with the risk of early labour/delivery and making sure both babies were okay throughout. My waters went naturally at 34 weeks so the girls arrived too early, spending 3 weeks in the amazing SCBU at Nobles.. luckily they were good weights and thrived during their time there.
Looking after two at once takes a lot of organisation and patience. It really isn’t as bad as people expect and myself and my husband take it all in our stride - we love it so much we’re actually brave enough to have another - just the one this time 🤣 due in May 🤍👶🏼
We feel completely blessed to have twins and realise everyday how lucky we are to have them. They are hilarious together and share the most special bond.. first thing they say in the morning is ‘SISSY SISSY!!!’. They adore each other and are so close (but still find the time to fight over the same toy 🤣).
My advice to anyone expecting twins would be not to worry or feel daunted, it is hard and tiring at times and a daily juggle, but so worth it. Number one from tip is to be really strict with their routine as early as possible. We found this so important as it pays off when they go down for a nap/feed at the same time. Ours have been on the same schedule pretty much their whole lives and this is due to being extremely strict with their feeding and napping schedules.
Hopefully I’ve given some insight on twin mum life! More than happy to answer any questions for any expectant twin/multiple mums and dads out there 🤍🤍.
